ENROLL PEOPLE IN SUNDAY SCHOOL

INTRODUCTION

The main purpose of a TEAM visitation is to tell people about Jesus.

There are many ways to share the gospel:
  1. Personal Testimony
  2. Roman Road
  3. Gospel Tract
  4. Continuing Witness Training
  5. FAITH
  6. TEAM Outline
  • Realize You Are A Sinner (Romans 3:23)
  • Recognize God’s Son (John 3:16)
  • Repent of Your Sin (Luke 13:3)
  • Receive Jesus As Your Saviour (John 1:12)
There will be one of three responses to the gospel:
  1. I have already received eternal life.
  2. I am ready to receive eternal life.
  3. I am not ready to receive eternal life.

Whatever the response is, your next task is to attempt to enroll the person in Sunday School.

We believe and practice what is commonly called open enrollment.
  • Many people think a person should attend Sunday School three Sundays in a row before they can be a member. THIS IS NOT TRUE.
  • We want to enroll anyone, anywhere, anytime if they agree.
  • Joining the Sunday School should not be confused with joining the church.
I. WHY ENROLL PEOPLE IN SUNDAY SCHOOL?
  1. Open enrollment fulfills the Great Commission.
    • Jesus has commissioned His church to go into the highways, hedges, streets and lanes to compel people to come in.
    • People are much more likely to attend if they are a member.
  2. Enrollment determines attendance.
    • Since Sunday School attendance is 40-60 percent of enrollment, attendance increases as enrollment increases.
  3. Enrollment determines giving.
    • Most giving is done by people who attend. As enrollment increases, attendance increases and giving increases.
  4. Enrollment affects baptisms.
    • As people listen to the Bible teaching in Sunday School, they hear the gospel and trust Jesus as Saviour.
    • Lost people who are enrolled in Sunday school are 80 times more likely to be saved than lost people not enrolled in Sunday School. (1 out of 3 vs. 1 out of 240)
  5. Ministry begins at enrollment.
    • When someone enrolls in Sunday School, we will (1) Commit to pray for them each week; (2) Provide a Bible Study class for every member of their family; (3) Provide information about our church and its ministries.
II. HOW TO ENROLL PEOPLE IN SUNDAY SCHOOL
  1. Share a Sunday School Testimony (FAITH)
    • Tell the general benefits of Sunday School: Friends/Support; Help in Time of Need; Opportunities to Learn and Apply God’s Word; Growth as a Christian; etc.
    • Tell a current personal experience.
  2. Use the Prospect Assignment Sheet
    • Write “enroll” across the sheet and drop it in the Westside Mailbox.
  3. Use the Sunday School Enrollment Kit. (3 things in your pocket/purse (1) You’re Invited (2) Gospel Tract (3) Enrollment Kit
    • Fill out the enrollment card completely.
    • Return completed card to the church office.
  4. Enroll visitors to Sunday School
CONCLUSION

Regardless of a person’s response to the gospel presentation, he/she should be invited to enroll in Sunday School.

Remember:
Our focus is not numbers.
Our focus is not percentage of attendance to enrollment.
Our focus is people.

Although a person can join our Sunday School without joining our church; a person cannot join our church without joining our Sunday School.

Statistics show that when a lost person is enrolled in Sunday School, he/she will likely be saved within twelve months.
