Children
Children's Ministries at Westside Baptist Church offer total graded programs that give children the opportunity to be taught with their peers on their level of understanding. Since teachers are the most important element in this effort of Christian education, we carefully choose men and women who model Christ. Our goal is to teach God's Word - its chronology, doctrines, commandments, and principles, thus allowing God to shape the hearts and minds of the children.
Mission Statement: Westside Baptist Church recognizes that Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Church. His Word is the standard on which Children's Ministries is based. Scripture gives parents primary responsibility for teaching godly principles to their children. Undoubtedly this is a work of changing the desires of the heart. For this reason we call the Children’s Ministry at Westside, Heart Works. Therefore, the mission of Children's Ministries is to reinforce the godly teaching of parents by emphasizing salvation, obedience, respect, love for God, a burden for the lost, and godly, Spirit-filled Christian living. Ultimately, we desire to see all children at Westside Baptist Church growing as Jesus did, in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52)
Activities: Children's Church: Children's Church is an exciting worship experience for children. Children's Church uses music, drama, relevant Bible teaching, and interaction to engage children in worship of God. Children's Church is a fun experience that keeps children excited about coming to church. Children's Church is held every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. and is located in the Teachey Chapel. Sunday School: Sunday School is a weekly opportunity for children to learn about God in a small group setting. The children can interact with their peers while they learn Bible lessons that have real life application. Teachers teach through the avenue of discussion, crafts, music, and many other various means to creatively communicate God's Word to the children. This is all done in order to help the children know that the Bible has all the answers to daily life. Children's Sunday School is held every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and the classes are held in the Family Life Center. Wednesday Night: Each Wednesday night throughout the school year we have our Olympian Club. Olympians is a Bible Club ministry that is authored by Word of Life Ministries, Inc.from Schroon Lake, New York. This ministry takes the first through fifth graders through the entire Bible in the time they spend with us. They have daily devotions, Christian service projects, scripture memory, and weekly accountability all as part of the spiritual growth program. We have games and loads of great ministry opportunity for each of the children. Olympians meets every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Vacation Bible School: VBS is a week long summer program designed to teach children the love of Jesus. Children are taught through Bible lessons, worship rallies, crafts, music, and social interaction. Children also participate in an evening we like to call "Family Night" which follows the VBS week. This year's VBS was themed "Saddle Ridge Ranch" where the kids will be "Roundin' up questions" and "Drivin' home answers." Summer Camp: Each year we take our children to camp at the Word of Life Camp in Hudson, FL. This week of camp is jam packed with loads of fun as the children get to interact with children from many different cities around Florida and Georgia. The junior weeks of camp are filled with fun on the climbing wall, in the Olympic sized pool, sliding down the great water slide, games, a camp fire service, and of course fabulous Bible teaching. Camp is the place that many decisions are made that last for eternity. You can check out the camp here. Come join us.
